The Theology of Holiness According to St John Paul II
Bušková, Magda ; Novotný, Vojtěch (advisor) ; Červenková, Denisa (referee) ; Svatoň, Robert (referee)
v anglickém jazyce: The primary focus of this study on the theology of holiness, according to St John Paul II, is to explore how he understands and interprets Christian holiness and what perspective he brings to the subject. The study offers a brief view of the saints he beatified and canonised, followed by insight into the moments of his life and spirituality, exploring, in line with the approach of spiritual theology, the appeal to understand him from within. The study's approach further reflects the theme of holiness from the position of selected texts of the Second Vatican Council. It intentionally takes into account the post-conciliar interpretation of Karol Wojtyła to consider the roots of his theology of holiness. The research of the theology of holiness in John Paul II's magisterium follows within selected encyclicals, especially Redemptor Hominis, Dives in Misericordia, Dominum et Vivificantem, and Redemptoris Missio, to explore aspects and characteristics he emphasised. The basic thesis and the study's golden thread is the approach of Christian holiness described as the union of Jesus Christ with a Christian in the Holy Spirit and the realisation of such union in the Church. Klíčová slova v anglickém jazyce: St John Paul II, holiness, union with Christ, Holy Spirit, mission, kingdom of God
The Kingdom of God in the Synoptic Gospels as an Object and Source of Hope
Sluka, Jiří ; Brož, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Scarano, Angelo (referee)
The work has three main parts, one on the kingdom of God, one on hope, and one on the relationship between the kingdom of God and hope. The first part looks for all occurrences of the word "kingdom" in the New Testament and examines the differences between the terms "kingdom of God", "kingdom of heaven", and "kingdom of the Father". It then turns its attention to the meaning and content of the term kingdom of God. The section on hope presents historical and contemporary definitions of hope, types of hope according to psychological research of the last two decades, looks for the difference between the object and the source of hope, describes the specifics of Christian hope, and looks for reasons why the word "hope" does not appear in the Gospels. In the next section, the thesis defines 16 classes of statements about the kingdom of God in the Synoptic Gospels, categorizes each verse into groups, and evaluates them according to their relationship to hope. It locates and presents the principles, called the building blocks of Christian hope, that are based on the kingdom of God presented by Jesus in the Synoptic Gospels. It then draws from the results the benefits of hope for people in their efforts to enter the kingdom of God. The paper also presents some Gospel passages about the kingdom of God that...
Initiation into the Mystery of the Kingdom of God in the Good Shepherd Catechesis Programme for Preschool Children
Keclíková, Vendulka ; Zimmermannová, Marie (advisor) ; Dřímal, Ludvík (referee)
This thesis deals with the ways of initiation into the mystery of the Kingdom of God for children aged 3 to 6 in the Good Shepherd Catechesis programme. In the theoretical part of the thesis, the authors of the programme, Sofia Cavalletti and Gianna Gobbi, the historical background of the programme's origin and its theological and pedagogical bases are introduced. The theological foundations are compared with the requirements laid out for the catechesis after the Second Vatican Council. The pedagogical bases are presented in the context of Maria Montessori's pedagogy they are patterned on. The core of the thesis consists of the catechesis of the chosen topic - The Kingdom of God. At first, the selected parables are introduced from the biblical point of view, and then particular parables of the Kingdom of God are presented, which the children are gradually initiated into. The stress is put on those aspects that the catechesis of preschool children focuses on and reasons for the selection of the parables are given. The practical part of the thesis deals with hands-on experience, especially with children`s verbal and visual interpretations of the topic. These interpretations show children`s ability to understand the parables of the Kingdom of God and to synthetize different topics. The pictures and...
Kingdom of God in a Multidimensional Understanding
Očenášová, Jaroslava ; Vogel, Jiří (advisor) ; Kučera, Zdeněk (referee)
The object and the aim of this thesis is to understand the Kingdom of God in a multidimensional model of reality that Karl Heim represented in his book Glaube und Denken (Belief and Thinking). The starting point of this work is a biblical glad tidings of God's Kingdom. The author is trying to do in the first part of this thesis at least a fractional analysis of the understanding of this message during a history and in the next part also the synthesis of its interpretations within the multidimensionality, which she is also striving to explain. The hypothesis of this work is that different interpretations of the Kingdom of God cannot be seen separately but simultaneously on the whole, in the light of the highest dimension, in the light of truth that is with God. At the end of this work is this hypothesis largely confirmed in interpretations of some theologists in the 20th century.
An attempt to evaluate the beatitudes of Jesus in terms of Christian ethics. Mt 5,3-12
Hlavnička, Miroslav ; Lorman, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Mašek, Vojtěch (referee)
This thesis deals with the interpretation of the text of the Beatitudes in the Gospel of Matthew. It is an attempt to evaluate the reference text in terms of Christian ethics. It poses the question of the presence of morally relevant content, ethical implications, in Jesus' Beatitudes. In an effort to understand the text it first discusses the proper handling of the Biblical text and hermeneutics as an effort to understand the text. With the standardized explanatory commentary the exegesis of the reference text Mt 5,3-12 is made. Based on the evaluation of the interpretations the thesis is determined. But the work does not finish with the exegesis of the text, but attempts to move towards the theological ethics. It identifies the Beatitudes as particularly emphasized attitudes. Christological interpretation of the Beatitudes as a portrait of Jesus is attached in the last chapter.
To be as children? Exegesis of Mark 10:13-16
Reichel, František ; Brož, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Hřebík, Josef (referee)
To Be As A Children? Exegesy Of Mk 10:13-16 The study deals with the exegesis of the pericope of the Gospel of Mark (Mk 10:13-16), generally known under the title The Little Children and Jesus. A part of the work is dedicated to the text of the pericope, not only from the point of view of its Czech translation, but also with consideration of the Greek text through which we strive to understand the original message of the author and its perception by the then recipients as well as the contemporary ones. To grasp the studied text better, it is perceived in the immediate context of the Transjordan passage of the Second Gospel, as well as in the broader context of the entire Gospel of Mark. Mark's text and his compositions are also compared with the parallel texts of synoptic gospels whose authors used Mark's original as a background. Two separate chapters are dedicated to the analysis of two crucial terms of Jesus's statement in the fifteenth verse: children - as the ancient and postmodern interpretations may differ significantly - and the kingdom of God, which is the core of the pericope, as well as the entire Mark's narration of Jesus's earthly preaching. The purpose of the work is to interpret the story and to understand, in depth, Jesus's statement: "Anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God...
The Kingdom of God and its theological connotations with focus on Jesus' teaching
Dosoudil, Jiří ; Ryšková, Mireia (advisor) ; Větrovec, Pavel (referee)
The thesis analyzes the "Kingdom of God" concept and integrates it into context of the Old and New Testaments, especially into Jesus' public teaching and ministry. The second chapter analyzes the presence of topic in the Synoptic Gospels. It evaluates their specifics, the overall conception and usage of the term. In the third chapter, the "Kingdom of God" concept is incorporated in whole of the Jesus' teaching. The second part of the third chapter analyses the Sermon on the Mount, the Lord's prayer, and some of the Jesus' parables. The final fourth chapter presents some basic interpretative planes of the "Kingdom of God" concept in the history of Christian thought.

Havrlant, Jaroslav ; Pospíšil, Ctirad Václav (advisor) ; Lášek, Jan Blahoslav (referee) ; Machula, Tomáš (referee)
Charles University in Prague, Catholic Theological Faculty Thesis, Prague 2013 ABSTRACT Ecclesiology of Tomáš Bavorovský († 1562) Jaroslav Havrlant Catholic preacher Tomáš Bavorovský (Thomas of Bavorov) is still a quite unknown personality of Bohemian renaissance. He is the representative of the Church loyal to the Pope in Rome shortly before the end of the Trident council and the arrival of Jesuits to Prague. The result of my study aimed at his ecclesiological approach is my thesis, which contains five chapters. The first three chapters are concerned with common historical facts of his time as well as with life and work of the preacher. The others focus on his interpretation of the Church and the Kingdom of God. The first chapter describes specific situation of Bohemian reformation, which was different from the neighboring countries because of its Hussite tradition and Utraquistic Church. Tomáš Bavorovský worked mostly in Catholic south and west Bohemian towns (Bavorov, Český Krumlov, Jindřichův Hradec, Plzeň). Therefore I describe in short also their religious history in this chapter. The part concerning the personality of the preacher starts with describing him as a writer. In chronological sequences it presents the writers who have written about him. Even though Tomáš Bavorovský was quite famous author...
Dream about the Paradise on Earth in the Work of Dostojevskij
Netopilová, Barbora ; Ovečka, Libor (advisor) ; Sládek, Karel (referee)
The dream about an earthly paradise, rediscovery of an original, absolutely harmonic paradisal life is, in Dostoevskij's opinion, one of the deepest and the most valuable dreams of the human heart. The spiritual course of any human being has its own history, it is born from thesis (babtism), goes through antithesis (crises) and finishes in synthesis (beauty). A man comes from the Eden Paradise and aims at heaven. So, a man in course of his spiritual life is in a real split into two paradises: the Eden Paradise from which he is coming from and the Kingdom of God where he is aiming at. The midpoint of the life course is accompanied by a crisis, that can also be described as separation from the the paradise. The characters of novels by Dostoevskij failed due to the fact, that they were not able to admit their presence between two "paradise states" and so their ideas about earthly paradise establishment were being corrupted. In our piece of work we are going to follow four trends: 1. Time corruption, incorrectly understood sense of history. The tendency to return back where a man came from, in an origenestic, cyclic interpretation of a comeback is apparent in a story The Dream of a Ridiculous Man. Another extreme shows marxism ideas going around Europe which deny both the importance and the sense of...
